Pyohex shampoo and conditioner have been developed by Dermcare to assist in the treatment of bacterial skin infections in dogs. These bacterial skin infections can have a wide variety of symptoms, appearances and causes.

What does a skin infection look like?

Skin infections may present as pimples, circular rings, redness or moist areas of skin, often referred to as ‘hot spots’.

How did my dog get a skin infection?

The causes behind these infections can be varied but can include, allergy to grass, pollen or food, parasitic infection or sometimes, it is just plain bad luck.

Pyohex Medicated Shampoo

This medicated foam shampoo has been developed to be used for the treatment of skin infections in dogs caused by the Staphylococcus Intermedius bacteria. The cleansing action removes dirt while degreasing the skin and killing bacteria and other micro-organisms that can cause skin irritation. The active ingredient, Chlorhexidine Gluconate, binds itself to your dog’s hair and enters the hair follicle through the shaft of the hair to kill the bacteria in situ.

Pyohex Conditioner

The medicated Pyohex Conditioner has been designed to be used after washing your dog with Pyohex medicated shampoo and is an aid in the treatment and prevention of skin infections in dogs. This leave on conditioner binds itself to you’re the dogs hair and skin providing up to 14 days residual treatment.

How often should I use Pyohex products?

It is recommended that while your dog’s skin is showing signs of infection, you should wash your dog twice a week to treat the infection thoroughly. Once the infection has settled down and is no longer causing your dog distress or discomfort, it is recommended that you continue to wash your dog with the medicated shampoo and conditioner at least once a fortnight, although the frequency may need to be adjusted dependent upon the season and the cause of the infection.
